A few weeks ago, I created my first Checklist with some practical ideas on improving and developing more effective assessments. This week, I am sharing additional questions and a more profound reflection on the previous topics. As a Spanish teacher and author of short stories and poems, I am always looking for new ways to connect with my students through language and exploring assessment in a foreign language provide many possibilities to enrich the classroom experience.
The following questions were included and modified in my Assessment Design Checklist:
How does this assessment contribute to achieving a long-term goal?
What content will provide a real understanding of the subject?
How to provide effective feedback in a foreign language class?
Reflecting on teaching experiences is the best way to assist learners in achieving their academic goals and help them throughout the process. I will continue improving my Checklist and add more ideas about designing assessments as I plan to develop better teaching strategies in the future.
