Identifying the purpose of assessments is essential for teachers to plan and adapt to new approaches and better teaching practices. As a result, it is necessary to be prepared and focus on specific aspects to evaluate students’ learning and make sure they understand the lessons.
As a Spanish teacher, I need to see my students progress in the four basic skills of language learning: writing, reading, speaking, and listening comprehension. However, trying to find ways to use the target language in all of those areas is one of my biggest concerns as an educator, especially when working as an online instructor and experienced the pros and cons of teaching with technology.
This week, I am summarizing my ideas in a practical checklist that I consider essential in order to improve and develop more effective assessments. I am sharing my Assessment Design Checklist with two questions related to my experience as a Spanish teacher.
